Abstract

Das Regionale Assessment Biologische Vielfalt und Ökosystemleistungen in Europa und Zentralasien der Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) bietet eine kritische Sicht auf den derzeitigen Wissensstand hinsichtlich der Bedeutung, des Zustands und der Entwicklungstendenzen der biologischen Vielfalt und der Beiträge der Natur für die Menschen. Im Assessment werden die unmittelbaren Ursachen untersucht, die den wahrgenommenen Veränderungen der biologischen Vielfalt und der Beiträge der Natur für die Menschen zugrundeliegen sowie auch die Auswirkungen dieser Veränderungen auf die Lebensqualität des Menschen. Schließlich wird im Assessment eine Mischung an Governance-Optionen, politischen Konzepten und Management- Verfahren aufgezeigt, die derzeit angewandt werden können, um den Verlust der biologischen Vielfalt und der Beiträge der Natur für die Menschen in der Region aufzuhalten. Das Assessment befasst sich mit der biologischen Vielfalt in terrestrischen, Süßwasser- und Meeres-Ökosystemen und betrachtet den derzeitigen Zustand und die derzeitigen Entwicklungstendenzen über mehrere Jahrzehnte hinweg; ebenso enthält es eine Vorausschau für die Zukunft, mit besonderer Berücksichtigung des Zeitraums von 2020 bis 2050. Das vorliegende Dokument, die Zusammenfassung für politische Entscheidungsträger des Assessments, wurde vom sechsten Plenum von IPBES (18. bis 24. März 2018, Medellín, Kolumbien) genehmigt. Es basiert auf mehreren Kapiteln, die von diesem Plenum angenommen wurden. Die Kapitel sind als Dokument IPBES/INF/6/Rev.1 verfügbar (www.ipbes.net).
