Abstract

A brief review and discussion on the effectiveness of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the topics discussed in this article are: What are the different types of masks?, Are homemade masks effective?, Which materials are good for making a homemade mask? Why public use of masks can be beneficial?, Should widespread public use of mask be recommended?, Evidence for ‘mask creates a false sense of security’ and Cultural aspects of masks. The article shall be valuable for both scientific and non-scientific communities.
