Abstract

Cissidium amazonicum sp. nov. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: D685D95C-622F-4042-875B-F74E26A8DB42 Fig. 46 Etymology Named after the region in which the specimens were found. Material examined Holotype BRAZIL • ♀; surroundings of Manaus, Amazonas; L. Beck leg.; MMUE. Additional material A second teneral specimen with the same collection details in MMUE may be this species. Description SIZE. Habitus (Fig. 46A), length 0.73 mm. COLOUR. Dark red brown, antennae and legs dusky yellow. HEAD. With a linear depression behind the eyes effaced medially, distance across eyes 0.27 mm; antennomeres III–X1, length 0.39 mm, IV–IX 0.21 mm, X–XI 0.16 mm; mentum and submentum obscured. PRONOTUM. Length 0.22 mm, width 0.39 mm, distinctly foveolate but foveolae absent medially; lateral margins bordered and sharply angled, posterior margin bordered including emargination opposite scutellum, hind angles rectangular (Fig. 46B). ELYTRA. Length 0.57 mm, width 0.51 mm. pubescent and more shallowly foveolate than pronotum. MESOVENTRITE. Medial extension of collar parallel-sided extending almost to middle of the mid-keel; midkeel widest anteriorly tapering strongly to junction with keel; keel setose, tapering to a blunt termination between mesocoxae; mesoventral lateral margins without serrations, sharply angulate; humeri bluntly toothed (Fig. 46C). METAVENTRITE. With scattered pubescence medially, disc simple, length 0.17 mm, distance between spines 0.14 mm. WINGS. Macropterous. GENITALIA. The female spermatheca was not detected in the dissection. Remarks The only species from Brazil in this group.
