Nemadus brachyderus (LeConte, 1863) In his description of the species, LeConte (1863: 25) published the only locality known to him as “ Nova Scotia.” There is however, no specimen with this locality in the LeConte Collection in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This prompted Peck and Cook (2006) to designate a lectotype. Sanders (1964) also reported the species to be common in over-wintering nests of Camponotus herculeanus (Linnaeus) in New Brunswick. However, Peck and Cook (2006) were unable to examine specimens to confirm these records. Consequently, the status of this species in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia should be further investigated. It is a myrmecophile associated with nests of Camponotus noveboracensis (Fitch) and Camponotus herculeanus (Peck and Cook 2006).
