La Matanza durante la Argentina agroexportadora desde fuentes censales (1869-1914)

Abstract

Esta obra es la segunda dentro de una colección de la Universidad Nacional de La Matanza iniciada en el año 2016, con el objetivo de dar a conocer lo acaecido en esta particular geografía del conurbano bonaerense, desde una perspectiva histórica. En general se buscó describir las características de la población del Partido de La Matanza, durante el lapso 1869-1914 estableciendo el correlato con el proyecto de país implementado en aquel momento. Las fuentes utilizadas fueron los censos nacionales de 1869, 1895 y el de 1914, a los que se agregó el ejecutado por la provincia de Buenos Aires en 1881. Desde allí, se observó lo sucedido con la población del partido de La Matanza mientras se desarrollaba el denominado “modelo agroexportador”. Fueron los aportes de la demografía histórica los que constituyeron el marco teórico de la investigación efectuada que fundamenta esta realización. Se piensa que la relevancia de lo que aquí se presenta radica en que permite un conocimiento, hasta ahora inexistente sobre este tema, que posibilita con su inclusión total o parcial, o su utilización en estudios comparativos, la concreción de otros estudios más amplios sobre la época en la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Se continúa, además, con la tarea de visibilizar el pasado local y regional, poniendo de manifiesto el protagonismo de la sociedad matancera en cada época vivida, porque la Historia de un país se escribe día a día en todos sus rincones y con la participación o la indiferencia, de todos sus habitantes.
