Abstract

Lope de Vega escribió en 1632, tres años antes de su muerte, una de las obras más interesantes de su vejez: el Huerto deshecho. La silva, colmada de quejas y desengaño, se difundió impresa en un pliego suelto que pronto recibió una respuesta en clave consolatoria: el Güerto florido, obra de Antonio de Herrera y Saavedra. Diversas han sido las interpretaciones del Huerto deshecho a lo largo de la historia crítica. Durante mucho tiempo se asumió como un lamento del Fénix por el rapto de su hija Antonia Clara, acaecido en 1634. Sin embargo, en la segunda mitad del siglo XX don Eugenio Asensio dio noticia de una estampación en pliego suelto del poema, datada en 1633. El descubrimiento echaba por tierra la explicación admitida tradicionalmente y dejaba abierto un doble sendero interpretativo, en el que las quejas por los disfavores cortesanos se conciliaban con el lamento por la muerte de Amarilis, ocurrida en la primavera de 1632. En 2010 se puso a disposición de los investigadores la digitalización del Códice Daza, cuadernillo de mano del Fénix en el que se conserva un primer borrador del poema. Se ofrece ahora, por primera vez, una edición que tiene en cuenta el cotejo entre la primera versión manuscrita en 1632 y la versión impresa en 1633. Las variantes de autor entre uno y otro texto ofrecen datos de gran interés sobre el proceso compositivo del Lope de senectute y también sobre el sentido último del Huerto deshecho.
