Dialeurodes turpiniae

Authors: Dubey, Anil Kumar;

Dialeurodes turpiniae

Abstract

Dialeurodes turpiniae (Meganathan and David, 1994) (Figs 52–56) Kanakarajiella turpiniae Meganathan and David, 1994: 40. (Holotype examined). Dialeurodes turpiniae (Meganathan and David): Martin and Mound, 2007: 31. Minutaleyrodes tricolorata Pushpa and Sundararaj, 2010: 48–50. Syn. nov. Material examined: Minutaleyrodes tricolorata Pushpa and Sundararaj: Holotype, India, Karnataka, Srinkeri, on Strychnos sp., 14.vi.2007, R. Pushpa (NFIC-FRI # 21875). Hosts. Celastraceae: Salacia fruticosa; Loganiaceae: Strychnos sp. (Pushpa and Sundararaj, 2010); Staphyleaceae: Turpinia malabarica (Meganathan and David, 1994); Cannabaceae: Celtis philippensis (Dubey and Ko, 2008). Distribution. India: Karnataka (Pushpa and Sundararaj, 2010). Remarks. The thoracic (Fig. 54) and caudal tracheal folds (Fig. 56) are deeply invaginated, and the dorsal cuticle usually folds along the moulting sutures (Fig. 55). Examination of the holotype of M. tricolorata revealed that the cephalothorax lacks submedian tubercles (Figs 52, 53), contrary to the illustration in Pushpa and Sundararaj, (2010), and no other differences were observed; hence, M. tricolorata Pushpa and Sundararaj syn. nov. is regarded as a junior synonym of D. turpiniae Meganathan and David.
