Abstract

Im weiten Fokus des Artikels steht die Frage nach Maß und Maßlosigkeit als Symptome unserer Gegenwart, im engen Fokus die nach dem Verhältnis von Unskalierbarem (Körper) und Skaliertem (Modelle). Hypothese des Folgenden ist, dass Modelle in Filmen gerade in und durch ihre reduzierte Größe zu kritischen Instanzen von Macht-, Größen- und Maßvorstellungen werden. Als solche vermögen sie kinematografische oder im besten Falle auch historische und transhistorische dispositifs sichtbar resp. ›transparent‹ zu machen. Anhand zweier Filme und einer Miniserie werden diese dispositifs beschrieben, die sich in der visuellen und narrativen Verhandlung von Modell und menschlichem resp. dezidiert weiblichem Körper zeigen: Der dänische Haus-Thriller Hævnens Nat von Benjamin Christiansen aus dem Jahr 1916, das unvollendete und unveröffentlichte französische Filmprojekt L'enfer von Henri-Georges Clouzot aus den 1960er Jahren sowie die US-amerikanische Miniserie Sharp Objects von Marti Noxon und Jean-Marc Vallée von 2018. Mit den Filmen resp. der Serie wird nicht nur ein Bogen über drei historisch und/oder zeitgenössisch relevante Filmproduktionsländer gespannt, sondern auch ein Bogen vom frühen narrativen Kino bis hin zur Serie, die als das ›neue Kino‹ gefeiert wird.
