In the groupı D. paresi is separated of other species in the group (including the brachypterous) by the following combined characters: posterior portion of the pronotal disc bearing ocellate punctures; elytral striae widened near the basis and lacking punctures and anterior portion of pronotal border flattened (dorsal view) (Figure 6 (a-b)).
