ANALISA PENGARUH PERBEDAAN METODE PENGELASAN SMAW DAN GTAW TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIS MATERIAL HG 30

Abstract

Pengelasan adalah penyambungan dua buah logam menjadi satu dilakukan dengan jalan pemanasan atau pelumeran. Proses pengelasan memiliki beberapa metode antara lain dengan metode pengelasan GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) dan SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan proses pengelasan pada material HG 30. Jenis baja tahan karat HG 30 banyak dipergunakan dalam industri modern khususnya pabrik asam fosfat karena memiliki tingkat ketahanan korosi yang tinggi. Pada penelitian ini digunakan dua metode pengelasan yang berbeda yaitu GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) dan SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), sehingga didapatkan perbedaan karakteristik hasil pengelasan yang dapat digunakan untuk perbandingan kualitas hasil pengelasan. Pengujian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini antara lain pengujian tarik dan kekerasan berdasarkan standart ASME IX. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa daerah HAZ menjadi titik patah ketika dilakukan uji tarik karena daerah HAZ memiliki tingkat kekerasan yang paling tinggi baik menggunakan metode SMAW maupun GTAW.
