PERFIL DE LOS ESTUDIANTES QUE INGRESAN A LA CARRERA DE OBSTETRICIA-UNIVERSIDAD CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR

Abstract

Los factores sociodemográficos y las características con las que los estudiantes ingresan a una carrera universitaria, constituyen un determinante que influye en la permanencia en la carrera y la culminación de la misma; la deserción se produce en seis de cada diez estudiantes, entre los factores relacionados con la deserción se encuentran: el promedio obtenido en el bachillerato, la institución secundaria de procedencia, el ingreso a una carrera que no corresponde al proyecto de vida, los ingresos y el apoyo familiar, el lugar de residencia, la educación de los padres, el estado laboral, el estado civil, el sexo y la maternidad; para obtener esta información se realizó un estudio de corte transversal mediante la aplicación de encuestas a los estudiantes que cursaron el preuniversitario en el periodo académico marzo-septiembre 2019. Para el análisis se utilizó los métodos descriptivos, bivariado, multivariado y regresión lineal. Frente a las características encontradas en el perfil de ingreso de los estudiantes, donde destacan varios aspectos que pueden influir en la decisión de continuar o no con la formación universitaria es indispensable establecer estrategias de apoyo encaminadas a garantizar de manera integral el bienestar estudiantil y la inclinación hacia las competencias de la profesión, cuyo objetivo principal es el buen desempeño académico que finalmente llevará a disminuir las cifras de deserción
