</script>FUNCIIONAL MORPHOLOGY OF "DIAMOND-SHAPED SENSIllA" ON MALES OF UNASPIS EUONYMI (COMSTOCK) (COCCOIDEA: DIASPIDIDAE) On rhe basis of exrernal anaromy and ultrastrucrure, it is shown that "diamond-shaped sensilla" (sensu GHAURI, 1962) are a series of five campaniform sensilla. Behavioural observations led to hypothesize rhat laterally located sensilla are srimulated during walking, when the legs move. Furthermore, rhe ventrally located sensillum monirors curicular strains due ro the conrraction of the elevator trochanteris muscle. I "Diamond-shaped senssilla" sono una serie di cinque sensilli campaniformi ellittici. La loro funzione è, molto verosimilmlente quella di percepire gli stress cuticolari dovuti alle reazioni vincolati del substrato (i laterali) e gli stress cuticolari dovuti alla contrazione del muscolo elevatore del trocamere (il ventrale).
