In the history of hadith transmission many problems have been arisen and each of these are named in different ways. Among them, irsāl and tadlīs have a different position. The reasons for the emergence of these problems are sometimes obligatory. Political, administrative, theological and sociological factors are some of them. Throughout the history, some regions played a central role in hadith transmission. One of them was Kūfa which maintained its position for a long time. However, because of the special structure of the region, transmission forms that make hadith’s isnad problematic such as irsāl and tadlīs, were more common there than other regions. In this article, from the foundation of Kūfa to the time it lost its center of attraction, the aspects that give rise to its special structure in the one and half century will be discussed; an understanding will be given as to why the problematic narrations are concentrated here.
