Agroforestry contributes to circular bioeconomy - Agrometsätalous osana kiertobiotaloutta

Abstract

Talouskasvu on usein tapahtunut ympäristön kustannuksella. Kehityksen tulee muuttua kohti kestävämpää talousmallia, minkä takia biotalous on mukana ratkaisemassa joitakin Euroopan ja maailman olennaisimpia haasteita: ilmastonmuutosta, luonnon monimuotoisuuden vähenemistä, metsäpaloja, muoveja merissä... Ylijäämän vähentäminen koko arvoketjussa ja tuotettujen materiaalien kierrättäminen on myös olennaista tuotantosyklin sulkemisen ja kiertobiotalouteen siirtymisen kannalta. Koska usiemmat fossiilisista materiaaleista tehdyt tuotteet voidaan tuottaa myös biomassasta (joko puusta tai muusta kasvista saadusta), agrometsätalouden mahdollisuudet ovat moninaiset. Agrometsätalous on tunnettu siitä, että sen avulla samalla maa-alalla yhtä aikaa kasvatettavien tuotteiden kirjoa voidaan monipuolistaa. Näin agrometsätalous tarjoaa lukuisia raaka-aineita, jotka voidaan muuttaa biopohjaisiksi tuotteiksi. - Given that most products derived from fossil fuels can be obtained from biomass, either woody or other plant species, the opportunities for agroforestry are manifold.
