An analysis of Polish housing policy. The main conclusion is that increasing the number of apartments for rent is beneficial not only for tenants, but for the entire economy as it alleviates the negative consequences of crises. The state should play an active role in increasing the housing stock for rent, but at the same time it should not be treated as a tool to meet all the important housing needs of society. Renting at preferential rates should primarily be a way to improve life chances for people in a difficult life situation or at the beginning of their professional careers, and not a permanent solution.
