This resource contains four 3D rendered animations of the different regimes described by the Storm Impact Scale (Sallenger, 2000). The scale is a conceptual framework which originally described the impact of coastal storm to barrier island systems. The four regimes are described as follows: Swash regime: The case where the maximum total water level does not exceed the dune toe. Collision regime: The case where the maximum total water level exceeds the dune toe, eroding the front of the dune. Overwash regime: The case where the maximum total water level exceeds the dune crest, resulting in water overtopping the dune. Inundation regime: The case where the minimum total water level exceeds the dune crest, typically removing the dune system. For more information, refer to Sallenger, A. H. (2000). These animations were creating using Blender and the FlipFluids plugin.
