In June 2018 the KU Leuven Association launched a new institutional repository, Lirias 2.0 (Leuven Institutional Repository and Information Archiving System). It was an ambitious project in collaboration with several stakeholders and a complex integration of various tools and infrastructures. The main goal was to ensure that the content and the repository components were interoperable, that they could connect with other systems and that it would be possible to transfer data. Furthermore, we wanted to create a stable environment in which data could be stored and accessed long-term. After a European tender procedure for the renewal of the old Lirias, KU Leuven selected 'Elements' (of the British company Symplectic, part of Digital Science) as the new publication management system. The long-term storage of the full text publications occurs in DSpace. In this presentation, we will give a functional and technical overview of the old and new version of our repository. We will also discuss the benefits and challenges of our project and describe the changes we had to make to our DSpace repository.
