The Digital Repository of Ireland supports ingest and storage of digital objects described in a variety of metadata standards. Currently supported standards are Dublin Core, MARC, MODS and EAD. In this presentation we describe the process of incorporating support for ORCID Identifiers for each of these standards in the Digital Repository of Ireland. We outline the challenges in supporting ORCID across multiple metadata standards in a consistent way and propose a possible method for incorporating ORCID Identifiers into these standards. We also describe the display requirements for ORCID and discuss the issues in implementing this in repository software. We look at lessons learned and highlight issues to be aware of when integrating ORCID in existing metadata formats, along with making recommendations and highlighting possible new features that may be supported by ORCID support.
