Między zagrodą a boiskiem. Studium aktywności wiejskich klubów sportowych

Abstract

--- English intro --- Studies on promotion of sport in rural areas and the consequences of this process in Poland date back to the 1960s and represent a rich and inspiring tradition. It is enough to mention Andrzej Wohl (the first president of the International Association for the Sociology of Sport and co-founder of „International Review of Sport Sociology”) and his pioneering studies on social aspects of the development of sport organizations in the Polish countryside. However, sociological studies of rural sport, understood as a social and cultural phenomenon, were not undertaken after 1989, neither by civil society researchers using the concept of social capital nor by researchers of cultural transformations (focused on identity, globalization, values, etc.). Thus, the research project presented in this book was (according to the author’s knowledge) the fi rst one that focused on rural sports organizations in posttransformation Poland.
