Abstract

Das von kommerziellen Verlagen erfolgreich etablierte APC-Modell skaliert nicht gut. Eine nachhaltige, wissenschaftsorientierte und finanziell tragfähige Open-Access-Landschaft setzt besser auf anderen Instrumenten auf. Diese Frage beschäftigt Open-Access-Zeitschriften, die nach dauerhafter Finanzierung suchen, ebenso wie Bibliotheken und Förderer, die der APC-Logik von "Verursacherprinzip" und "eine Zahlung pro Artikel" häufig etwas hilf- und tatenlos gegenüberstehen. Gründe, nach Alternativen zu APC zu suchen, gibt es reichlich; abgesehen von der Frage finanzieller Nachhaltigkeit bieten andere Modelle auch mehr Einflussmöglichkeiten zugunsten von Open Science und Verwendung der Mittel. Nicht zuletzt hängen an solchen Fragen auch Aspekte der zukünftigen Rolle von Bibliotheken. Doch welche Faktoren sollten die Entscheidung für die Erprobung von oder Beteiligung an APC-losen Geschäftsmodellen leiten? Bei der Prüfung spielen folgende Aspekte eine wichtige Rolle: * gemeinschaftliche Finanzierung durch Konsortien * Kostenbeteiligung durch Förderorganisationen * faire Open-Access-Konditionen, transparente Geschäftsmodelle * verlässliche Finanzplanung für Bibliotheken und Zeitschriften * wissenschaftliche Unabhängigkeit und Steuerungsmöglichkeiten durch finanzierende Einrichtungen Der Vortrag präsentiert diese Aspekte und liefert Empfehlungen für das weitere Vorgehen.
