Abstract

A umidade do ar é uma das variáveis climáticas que influencia os processos atmosféricos e sua importância deve-se principalmente ao fato de estar relacionada à influencia na demanda evaporativa da atmosfera. A umidade do ar refere-se a presença de vapor d’água na atmosfera em que provem da evaporação e da evapotranspiração, cuja intensidade depende principalmente da radiação solar, da extensão da superfície evaporante e da atuação do vento. A umidade relativa tem importância fundamental em muitas práticas agropecuárias. A região sul do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), devida à sua posição geográfica, sofre grande influência das massas de ar úmidas. Pela falta de trabalhos acerca desta variável para o RS, justifica-se esse empreendimento. O objetivo deste trabalho foi um estudo climatológico da umidade relativa das regiões homogêneas estabelecidas pela analise de agrupamento, definindo estatísticas que contribuam com a caracterização da variável e avaliando a tendência linear da umidade relativa para as regiões homogêneas no período de estudo, 1975-2009. Quatro regiões homogêneas, quanto ã umidade relativa, foram indicadas pelo método aglomerativo de Ward. A umidade relativa do ar apresenta seus valores mais elevados na faixa litorânea e vai diminuindo conforme avança em direção ao continente e também em localidades de altas altitudes, para todos os meses do ano. A variável apresenta um padrão anual de valores elevados em todo o Estado. A variabilidade dos dados em torno da média, apresenta-se de forma mais destacada nas regiões 1(parte norte e fronteira oeste) e 4 (parte do noroeste e parte central). A variabilidade dos dados é maior nos meses do período quente do que naqueles do período frio, em todas as regiões. Somente nas regiões 2 e 3 (parte do nordeste e litoral), ocorreram tendências lineares significativas (5%), indicando um aumento mensal da umidade relativa de 0,006 e 0,005, respectivamente
