With the increasing demands for new multimedia applications and services, new communication scenarios should be introduced in the next communications standards in order to respond to such demands. Very high throughput communications, up to Terabits/second, are considered for some applications, while others call for very reliable data communications. In this context, new error correction schemes should be investigated. To this end, this poster describes a new family of error correction codes, based on the design of non-binary turbo codes defined over Galois fields GF(q), with q = 2^m and m > 1.
