Classical novae (CNe) are transient phenomena which make up a subclass of the accreting binary cataclysmic variables. This study concerns the largest sample of CNe in M31 ever studied looking at the environments of these objects, building on previous work (e.g. see Shafter 2011). We use a pixel statistic technique previously used in the study of supernova environments known as normalised cumulative rank (NCR) (see James & Anderson 2006) to assess the association of CNe with areas of near and far-UV emission as observed by the GALEX space telescope. Our sample of CNe are split according to their spectral type, FeII and He/N. Kolmogoroc-Smirnov and Anderson-Darling tests were employed to test whether the distribution of the two main spectral types are similar. Our results show no significant difference between the spectral types. This result is repeated when using three methods of looking at the radial distribution of the novae in M31, the apparent distance from the centre of M31 as seen on the sky, the deprojected distance from the centre of M31 and the isophotal radius as defined by Kent (1987). This result agrees with previous work.
