In the context of the Open Access initiatives headed in Latin America by SciELO, LA Reference and new international frameworks, such as Horizon2020, Plan S and cOAllition S, whose goal is that scientific publications that result from research funded by public grants should be published in journals or platforms compatible with Open Access, it has been shown greater engagement of researchers and citizen, to diversify access to quality and impact research.In turn, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoted by the United Nations, address the global challenges we face and that they are the responsibility of the whole society, including researchers. Therefore, it is relevant to identify influence, impact, disseminate the scholarly research with Open Access category and not, headed by Latin American institutions, about on critical issues of global interest such as "Influenza H1N1", included in SDG 3 "Good Health and Well-being".The analysed is based on from 2009 to 2018 scholarly research: Article, Review and Conference paper, published in journals included in the database Scopus (Elsevier) assigned to “Medicine” subject areas, which give account of primary and original research framed in ODS 3, whose, first or corresponding author is affiliated with Latin American institutions. The type of Open Access is identified, if appropriate, according to the information extracted from the database, generating, in this way, two sets of publications.Finally, the altimetric indicators (Altmetric.com): mentions of social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Sina Weibo, Pinterest), mentions of public policy documents, mentions of patent documents; Mendeley readings; Citations of Dimensions; were analysed for regarding the following research questions: First, Is it an advantage to publish critical topics in Open Access headed by Latin America for its spreading in social platforms and how does it impact on the decision making of public policies? Second, Is there technological transfer of these research? Third, Are they being used to hold or generate new research output?
