Abstract

A diploma of Louis the Pious from 8 December 820 in favor of the monastery of Santa Maria of Valfabbrica (Perugia) illustrates the sophisticated techniques the monks of San Silvestro of Nonantola used to forge documents to defend the monastery’s landholdings.
