Abstract

Der Bericht „Förderung von Projektstellen für den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs“ enthält umfassendes Zahlenmaterial zu Art und Umfang sowohl der direkten als auch der indirekten DFG-Förderung von Promotions- und Postdoc-Stellen. Festhalten lässt sich, dass knapp zwei Drittel der in 2018 bewilligten Projektmittel der DFG in die Finanzierung von Stellen für wissenschaftliches Personal fließt. Insgesamt wurden damit im Jahr 2018 Projekte gefördert, die Stellen für etwa 27.000 Promovierende und 12.000 Postdoktorandinnen und -doktoranden vorsehen (Gesamtfördersumme: 1,5 Mrd. Euro). Darüber hinaus zeigen die Ergebnisse des Berichts, dass die DFG heute im Vergleich zu 2014 auskömmlichere Promotionsstellen fördert: Diese werden heute mit deutlich höheren Teilzeitanteilen als im Jahr 2014 bewilligt. Laut Berechnung der DFG wird derzeit knapp jede fünfte wissenschaftliche Stelle an Hochschulen in Deutschland unterhalb der Professur von der DFG gefördert. Damit liefert der Bericht „Förderung von Projektstellen für den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs – Entwicklung 2014 - 2018“ wichtige ergänzende Informationen zur derzeit verfügbaren amtlichen Statistik und zur kürzlich novellierten Promovierendenstatistik des Statistischen Bundesamtes.
