En este artículo se presentan las categorías la función de la madre, la ley y la escuela pública como instituciones responsables de formar ciudadanos virtuosos que planteó Pestalozzi; además, se retoma la triada del método de Pestalozzi para educar en comparación con lo que hoy se le llama competencia. Se concluyó que la propuesta pedagógica de Pestalozzi contiene algunos planteamientos vigentes que pueden contribuir en posibles modos de atender el ámbito educativo derivado del discurso político acerca de la Nueva Escuela Mexicana.
