İslam toplumunun en önde gelen etkin şahsiyetlerinin İslam âlimleri olduğunda şüphe yoktur. Bu şahsiyetlerin her türlü davranışı toplumun fertlerini yönlendirici olmuş-tur. Toplum, bu kişilerin takındığı tavırlar ve verdiği fetvalarla/kararlarla davranış biçimlerini belirlemiştir. Bu durum, İslam âlimlerinin toplumsal konumlarının ve değerle-rinin artması ve eksilmesiyle doğru orantılı olarak tarih sahnesinde yerini almıştır. İmam Mâlik de kendi döneminde toplum üzerinde önemli etkileri olan bariz şahsiyetlerden birisidir. Bu makale İmam Mâlik'in siyasî otorite ile ilişkilerini ve bu ilişki biçiminin toplumsal yankılarını ele almaya çalışacaktır. Makale İmam Mâlik'in Emevîler döne-minde siyasî otoriteler ile pek fazla ilişkisi olmadığından bu döneme kısa bir bakıştan sonra daha çok Abbasîler dönemi üzerinde yoğunlaşacaktır.Imam Mâlik and Political PowerThe relationship between İmam Mâlik and political power, although the Umeyye period has been calmed, it has been become different during the Abbasid period. After giving message to the public opinion on the mutineers and their supporters had been punished, a new period started with excuse of Mansur's.
