Archeo-Ecologisch onderzoek Prins Albertstraat Roeselare

Abstract

De archeologie is als onderzoeksdiscipline in vele opzichten nog in volle ontwikkeling. Naast de traditionele cultuurhistorische interessepunten komt steeds meer de relatie tussen de mens en zijn omgeving in de belangstelling. De evolutie van deze interactie wordt bestudeerd aan de hand van een steeds groeiende waaier van organische resten ingezameld tijdens opgravingen. Dat de recent steeds meer bestudeerde loopkevers, mijten en kiezelwieren daarbij waardevolle vondstcategorieën zijn, wordt aangegeven door theoretische argumenten en voorbeelden uit de praktijk. Het onderzoek beperkt zich niet alleen meer tot pollen en zaden en beenderresten.
