The TAIPAN Starbugs are small cylindrical fibre optic positioning robots, currently installed in the UKST in the final stages of commissioning. Throughout the research and development of this new technology, a great deal has been learnt about the Starbugs. Some of the challenges and key learnings have been extremely valuable in the progression of the Starbugs in future projects.
