Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan abstraksi matematis yang memperoleh pembelajaran Model PACE dan Konvensional pada Mata Kuliah Statistika Matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika yang mengambil Mata Kuliah Statistika Matematika di salah satu PTS di Jakarta Timur. Teknik sampling yang digunakan berupa purposive sampling, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM), tes Kemampuan Abstraksi Matematis, lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan peneliti. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan teknik triangulasi. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa masih mengalami kesulitan, baik secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan level KAM, dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan abstraksi matematis pada setiap indikatornya, baik yang memperoleh pembelajaran Model PACE maupun konvensional. Namun, mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran Model PACE pada semua indikator kemampuan abstraksi matematis mengalami kesulitan yang lebih rendah daripada mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Adapun kesulitan paling banyak yang dialami mahasiswa, baik yang memperoleh pembelajaran Model PACE maupun konvensional adalah pada saat menentukan pola/bentuk umum (generalisasi).
