Abstract

Karnataka has an exciting history. The written history of Karnataka returns to the Ramayana and Mahabharatha sagas. The capital of "vaali" and "Sugriva" referenced in the Ramayana is said to be Hampi. Karnataka is referenced in the Mahabharatha as "Karnata Desha." Historically, the district was additionally called "Kuntala Rajya." Karnataka was likewise part of the Dakshinapatha (southern area) which is referenced in numerous Indian sagas. Vatapi, related with the sage Agastya, is related to Badami in Bagalkot region. Karnataka is arranged on the western edge of the Deccan level.
