A Temática Indígena e a Literatura no Ensino Médio: Uma Leitura Crítica da Obra Iracema de José de Alencar

Abstract

O artigo tem o objetivo de apresentar as reflexões da pesquisa realizada como Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) na Especialização em Culturas e Histórias dos Povos Indígenas. Nessa ocasião discutimos o ensino da temática indígena a partir da Lei 11.645/2008 no ensino da literatura, problematizando a obra Iracema, do gênero indianista, de José de Alencar no que se refere a imagem que foi construída dos índios pelo autor e que ainda permanecem no imaginário social brasileiro. Confrontamos as Orientações Curriculares para o Ensino Médio - Linguagens, Códigos e suas Tecnologias, com a Lei nº 11.645/2008 que determinou o ensino da temática indígena na Educação Básica, junto com uma pesquisa de campo com professores de literatura, indagando sobre a Lei e de como viam o índio na atual conjuntura social. Diante dessa abordagem, se evidenciou que os professores majoritariamente veem os índios a partir de estigmas, como uma figura folclórica não condizente com a realidade. Assim, identificamos que após dez anos da promulgação da lei há um amplo desconhecimento dela por parte dos professores, como também há carência na formação continuada dos docentes sobre o tema. Logo, concluímos que se torna indispensável cursos de formação continuada que abordem o instrumento normativo para que imagens equivocadas acerca dos povos indígenas sejam desconstruídas e problematizadas.
