BOREAL, Bio-renforcement des ouvrages hydrauliques en remblais

Abstract

La biocalcification est une solution très récente de renforcement des sols in-situ. Elle est obtenue par précipitation de calcite dans des conditions biogéochimiques contrôlées. Le procédé a été validé au cours de plusieurs expérimentations, initialement en laboratoire puis sur chantiers sous conditions de nappe statique. Il est breveté et mis en application par Soletanche-Bachy. Cependant, son application à des ouvrages hydrauliques en charge n’était jusqu’alors pas envisageable à cause des vitesses de percolation dans ces ouvrages. Le projet BOREAL (Bio-Renforcement des Ouvrages hydrauliques en remblais), s’est attaché à lever ce verrou technique. Notamment, la réalisation d’un modèle physique à échelle 1 a permis de valider la faisabilité des injections des solutions dans différentes granulométries et configurations de sols et sous diverses conditions hydrauliques. Les résultats issus du modèle physique seront présentés montrant les domaines d’applications du procédé et les pathologies visées. Bien que le projet BOREAL ait ciblé initialement les digues en charge, son objectif premier est d’assurer le renforcement des ouvrages en remblais vis-à-vis des risques d’érosion interne ou de liquéfaction dans le corps de l’ouvrage ou sa fondation. Le procédé a donc des perspectives dans le domaine des digues de protections. Les résultats seront replacés dans un contexte de mise en œuvre in situ. Ainsi, les aspects environnementaux inhérents à tout projet de confortement d’ouvrages hydrauliques avec les impacts potentiels sur les nappes, seront étayés montrant que le procédé BOREAL se présente favorablement comme nouvelle solution industrielle.
