Conscious Networks: An architecture for human-like intelligence

Abstract

Conscious Network is an architecture that mimics the operation of the human brain by modelling it as a multi-modal signal processing system that stores data into three different memory systems - episodic, semantic and procedural. Episodic memory is used to store experiences as episodes while semantic memory is used to store knowledge and understanding as a graph of concepts. Procedural memory is used to store and refine skills learned over time. In addition, Conscious network can simulate *creative thinking* which allows the network to simulate human brain-like behavior such as creating abstract and higher order concepts, interpreting situations, creating forward and backward simulations, creating plans to achieve goals, reflecting on its own thoughts and actions, and performing meta-cognition.
