MDS4Wikidata: A Crosswalk to Wikidata

Abstract

Präsentation auf dem WikiKult Netzwerktreffen 2026 https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiKult_Netzwerktreffen_2026 Die Minimaldatensatz-Empfehlung für Museen und Sammlungen (MDS) ist ein praxisorientierter Standard für die digitale Erschließung und Online-Veröffentlichung von Sammlungsobjekten. Sie definiert einen Kernbestand an Metadaten, der eine qualitativ hochwertige, nachhaltige und interoperable Bereitstellung von Sammlungsdaten unterstützt. Grundlage des MDS ist ein Vergleich der für Museen und Sammlungen relevanten Standards und Empfehlungen, darunter das DFG-Basisdatenset, die DFG-Praxisregeln „Digitalisierung“ mit den LIDO-Kernmetadaten, das Europeana Data Model (EDM) sowie die Datenfeldkataloge der Verbunddatenbanken digiCULT und museum-digital. Um die Interoperabilität von Sammlungsdaten weiter zu verbessern, wird die Minimaldatensatz-Empfehlung kontinuierlich mit weiteren Standards und Datenmodellen in Beziehung gesetzt. Solche Mappings und Crosswalks erleichtern die Transformation von Daten zwischen verschiedenen Systemen und schaffen die Grundlage für eine standardisierte Veröffentlichung und Nachnutzung von Sammlungsinformationen. Die vorliegende Präsentation stellt einen Crosswalk zwischen der MDS und Wikidata vor. Sie erläutert den methodischen Ansatz der Zuordnung und zeigt anhand ausgewählter Beispiele, wie sich die Datenfelder der MDS auf das Datenmodell von Wikidata abbilden lassen. Damit leistet der Crosswalk einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Veröffentlichung von Sammlungsdaten als Linked Open Data und zur stärkeren Vernetzung musealer Informationen innerhalb der internationalen Wissensinfrastruktur.
