The Impact of Genai and Financial Factors on The Usage Of GenAI

Abstract

The rapid growth of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has significantly influenced how individuals perform academic, professional, and financial tasks. However, adoption and usage of GenAI depend not only on technological capability but also on users' ethical trust and financial readiness. This study examines the combined impact of ethical trust factors — fairness, accountability, and transparency — and financial factors — financial well-being and financial behaviour — on the usage of GenAI. A quantitative, correlational research design was adopted, with primary data collected through a structured five-point Likert-scale questionnaire from 311 MBA students and young professionals in India. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression were used to test five hypotheses linking the proposed factors to GenAI usage. The regression model was statistically significant (F = 22.839, p < 0.001, R² = 0.272), and the results reveal that transparency (β = 0.271, p < 0.001), financial well-being (β = 0.225, p < 0.001), and financial behaviour (β = 0.113, p = 0.045) significantly and positively predict GenAI usage, while fairness and accountability do not have a significant direct effect. The findings highlight the importance of clear, explainable AI systems and users' financial stability in driving GenAI adoption, offering practical insights for developers, educators, and policymakers seeking to promote responsible and financially inclusive GenAI usage.
