
Indralupta is a disease characterized by patches of hair loss. It described in Ayurveda under Shirogata roga (diseases of head) & Kapalagata Roga (Scalp disease) by Acharyas. By Acharya Sushrut Indralupta has been described under Kshudra Roga (minor dieases). It can be correlated with Alopecia areata in modern science. It is having chief complaints of hair loss on scalp without inflammatory signs. Indralupta primarily caused by vitiation of Tridosha mainly Pitta and Vata, along with Rakta dushti. This review explains samprapti of Indralupta with Shat Kriyakala & modern pathogenesis of Alopecia Areata for better understanding of disease progression and intervention.
