
Natica vitellus (Linnaeus, 1758) Fig. 3E–I Polinices sp. – Hadi et al. 2024: 6. Material examined IRAN – Sistan and Baluchestan • 3 shells; Dar Pahn Unit; GDZU-0067 to GDZU-0069. Remarks The specimens from the Dar Pahn Unit are very similar to N. vitellus, but appear somewhat taller. The species [including its synonym Natica rufa (Born, 1778)] has Neogene fossil records in the central Indo-West Pacific region, as well as in India and Japan (Mukerjee 1939; Dey 1961; Kanno et al. 1982; Majima 1989).
