Cepa 1-5 mm de diámetro, corta, de hasta 2,5 cm, no ramificada o muy raramente bifurcada, cubierta de restos de estípulas de un pardo obscuro o negruzco; tallos fértiles 1-5 cm, filiformes, de 0,5-1 mm de diámetro en la base, laterales, de postrados a ascendentes, raramente erectos, con 1-3 hojas, ± pelosos –al igual que pecíolos y pedicelos–, con pelos tectores de hasta 1(1,5) mm, aplicados o subpatentes, raramente patentes, rectos o ± ondulados. Hojas palmatisectas, con 3 segmentos, de hasta 10 × 8 mm, anchamente obovados –los laterales a veces asimétricos en la base–, pinnatífidos –dientes 5-8(10), obtusos–, en los 2/3 apicales, raramente casi hasta la base, verdes por ambas caras y con pelos tectores ± aplicados, sobre todo en el margen y los nervios, raramente con algunas glándulas subsésiles dispersas, de haz glabra o con algunos pelos aislados en los nervios y envés de subglabro a peloso; estípulas de la roseta 1-3 × 1-2 mm, de semicirculares a triangular-ovadas, obtusas o raramente subagudas, sin glándulas en el margen o raramente con alguna aislada, las caulinares de 1-3 × 1-2 mm, de subtriangulares a ovadas, obtusas o subagudas. Flores 1(2) por tallo. Zona axial del receptáculo pelosa en toda la superficie. Sépalos 5, de 2,5-3 mm, triangular-ovados; piezas del calículo 5, más cortas que los sépalos, ovales. Pétalos 5, de 3-5 mm, amarillos, a veces con pelos en el ápice. Anteras 0,2-0,4(0,5) mm. Estilos 0,6-0,9 mm, subterminales, cilíndricos, no o poco ensanchados en la base. Aquenios 0,9-1 mm, lisos o rugulosos, glabros. 2 n = 14; n =14. Pastos densos, rasos, turbosos, de alta montaña, en zonas donde ha persistido la nieve; en suelos profundos descalcificados; 1800-2600 m. VI-VIII. Alpes, Jura, Apeninos y montañas del N de la Península Ibérica. Cordillera Cantábrica, C y E de los Pirineos. And. Esp.: Ge Hu L O Le (S).
