Drawing on the commonality between individual and population health — the risks each faces and the choices needed to mitigate them — I spoke about the unrealized potential in advancing health. Underscoring the precious and invaluable nature of health, and explaining how it is measured and created, I shared my perspective on the need to move from risk to resilience by applying the principles of Lifestyle Medicine at both individual and population levels. This presentation was delivered to a batch of 60+ officers drawn from various central services, attending the mid-Service Training Programme on the Whole-of-Government Approach for Disaster Resilience and Quality of Living (20–24 July 2026), held at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, India.
