Formulation and Evaluation of Polyherbal Hair Oil for Alopecia with Pumpkin Seed Oil and Bhringraj Extract

Abstract

“Originally published in IJPPR Human Journals”. ABSTRACT: The side effects of herbal formulation are always less or none as compared to synthetic. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), stress, hormonal imbalance, and nutritional deficiency are the primary causes of alopecia. The objective of the current research is the preparation of the herbal hair oil that will help in reducing the level of DHT and stimulating the hair growth with the help of pumpkin seed, bhringraj, amla, green tea, peppermint, rosemary, vallarai and coconut oil. Bhringraj Extract and pumpkin seeds are officially indicated as Ayurvedic system of medicine. Crude drugs were mixed together in the form of herbal hair oil using the boiling process to produce the mixture. The mixture is composed of zinc and essential fatty acids, which help to reduce hair fall, Bhringraj that are anti-dandruff activity and enhance hair growth. Amla stimulates collagen growth and strengthens hair strands and coconut oil are anti-microbial and intensive hydration. Green tea has anti-oxidant properties that prevent oxidative stress and damage against free radicals. The herbal oil formulated was tested with the help of different parameters like Organoleptic properties, viscosity, PH, density, stability, Saponification as well as phytochemical tests. These findings reveal that the product is stable, has properties that suit the scalp, and also has bioactive compounds that are good. At the end of the day, the polyherbal hair oil produced is safe, effective and contains no toxic chemicals. Keywords: Alopecia, Bhringraj, pumkin seed oil, dihydrotestosterone
