Cartographic Visualisation of dialectic variations of Bhojpur-Purwanchal region.

Abstract

A Cartographic Breakthrough for Low-Resource Linguistics :- The First Comprehensive Atlas of Bhojpuri Sub-Dialectal Regions in PurvanchalWhile modern linguistic resources for major global languages scale exponentially, the Bhojpuri language—spoken by tens of millions across the heart of northern India—has historically faced a severe digital resource drought. Academic mappings have largely remained stagnant, relying on archaic, century-old colonial surveys that fail to capture the living, breathing phonetic shifts of the region. This project decisively breaks that stagnation. This multi-page cartographic masterpiece stands as a definitive, hyper-localized spatial index of the sub-dialectal zones of Purvanchal. Painstakingly compiled and visually structured, the atlas unifies an authoritative regional index, a primary dialect-boundary map, and extended regional data matrices into a singular, cohesive linguistic framework. By mapping the exact transitions of localized idioms across districts like Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, and beyond, this document bridges a massive cultural vacuum. It provides a verified, unalterable baseline for contemporary sociolinguists, cultural preservationists, and digital humanities researchers worldwide.
