Zespół stresu pourazowego (PTSD) a bezpieczeństwo państwa: konsekwencje dla gotowości operacyjnej służb mundurowych i ratowniczych oraz stabilności społecznej

Abstract

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) impacts national security primarily by impairing the ability of uniformed and emergency services to operate effectively, as well as by potentially reducing the overall level of social security and stability. PTSD symptoms, manifested through problems such as lack of concentration, impulsivity, or hypersensitivity, can lead to errors in public service, mental exhaustion, job inefficiency, and an increased risk of criminal behavior. Furthermore, this burden on the healthcare and social care systems, a decline in economic potential, and an increased risk of violence and social destabilization directly threaten national security. Therefore, ensuring access to diagnostics and psychological support, particularly for those professional groups exposed to trauma, is crucial. The aim of this article is to present the impact of PTSD occurring in society on national security. The source selection process was based on a review of the professional literature and previous research on the analyzed topic.
