
The open, verifiable censorship core of the Banned Books catalogue (banned-books.org): structured facts about book bans, restrictions, and challenges across 119 countries — book, country, year, action type, status, scope — with the reason taxonomy and a source citation for every ban. Released under CC-BY-4.0 as six relational CSV tables plus a machine-readable schema and a data descriptor (PDF). Editorial prose, enrichment, and convenience formats are excluded (those are in the commercial dataset). 20,300 books, ~35,900 ban events (+~850 books, +~870 bans).
