
Road freight transport is a key pillar of our economic system. At present, it is facing major challenges such as rising operating costs, fluctuating fuel prices, and the need to reduce CO₂ emissions and noise pollution. The electrification of heavy goods transport is therefore becoming increasingly important. Electric trucks are being used more and more, and the range of models is growing – even though obstacles such as high acquisition costs and the expansion of charging infrastructure still remain. The event highlighted the challenges and solutions associated with the electrification of heavy goods transport and places the practical use of electric trucks at centre stage. It presents research findings and practical expertise through real-world examples that demonstrate concrete solutions for low-emission, efficient and reliable heavy goods transport. NEFI is Austria’s innovation network for the transformation of industry towards climate neutrality. Flagship projects demonstrate that climate-neutral industrial production with innovations “Made in Austria” is technically and economically feasible.The NEFI Technology Talks are a series of events dedicated to current technical and systemic issues relating to the industrial energy transition.
