
This presentation provides practical advice for MSc students, PhD researchers, postdoctoral scientists and early-career professionals seeking roles in computational biology, bioinformatics and biomedical data science. Drawing on real-world recruitment experience, it outlines ten key strategies for strengthening applications, demonstrating technical and transferable skills, effectively using AI tools, and communicating impact. The presentation also introduces the STAR technique as a framework for presenting experience in CVs, applications and interviews, helping candidates showcase their contributions and achievements more effectively. The presentation was created as part of the work package Analyse, from MRC funded project BIOMEDASA.
