Indigenous Data Sovereignty: A Sociotechnical Perspective from the Global South. Workshop Report for the SEEKCommons Network

Abstract

This record includes the final report for the "SEEKCommons Research Coordination Network" (RCN) workshop, organized as a series of seven sessions, held between September and December 2025. The workshop design was simple: a set of guiding questions was shared with participants to prompt them to present their experiences, perspectives, and practice-based reflections on the subject. Each session was anchored in a specific case and context, brought by a presenter with direct experience in that field throughout the Majority World. The goal was not to produce a unified definition or a single framework, but to build, through sustained dialogue, a shared understanding of challenges and opportunities.
