Incentives for AI Inference and Video Streaming

Abstract

Project EXIGENCE integrates measurements, optimisation, and incentivisation to contribute to reduce overall energy consumption and CO2e of ICT services. Project objectives explore and adapt novel, incentive-compatible energy consumption and carbon footprint reduction mechanisms, for service providers and users. AI inference user QoE depends on inference accuracy and latency, with energy consumption and carbon emissions at data center. Video streaming user QoE depends on video quality, hence bitrate, with energy consumption at data centers, core and access networks. The framework determines incentives to achieve specific carbon intensity cap and target carbon emissions reduction.
