## Abstract The Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha, compiled by Ācariya Anuruddha circa the 11th century CE, is the definitive Theravāda compendium of Abhidhamma. It organises the entire phenomenological universe into a finite, interlocking taxonomy of consciousness (citta), mental factors (cetasika), material phenomena (rūpa), and the unconditioned (nibbāna), together with a dynamic model of cognitive process (vīthicitta) and sub-threshold continuity (bhavaṅga). Building on S2-P2, which established the 89 cittas as the visible complement of the E₈ shadow sector, this paper extends the correspondence from discrete citta taxonomy to the full Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha system. Within the E₈/CFT framework established in the preceding papers of the Octonionic Abhidhamma series, we show that the Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha can be read as a finite coordinate chart on the E₈ phase space, with its core constructs mapping naturally onto structures already present in the algebraic framework. We establish two principal results and propose two further correspondences of varying structural strength: - **Theorem A.I — Bhavaṅga as Shadow Hamiltonian:** The Abhidhamma's life-continuum (bhavaṅga) provides a natural structural analogue to the E₈ shadow-sector Hamiltonian \(H_{211}\). A four-property structural match (continuity, homogeneity, sub-threshold nature, conditioning role) is demonstrated without free parameters. - **Theorem A.II — Javana Impulses as Octonionic Directions:** The seven javana impulses — the karmically potent core of the cognitive process — are mapped to the seven imaginary octonion units \(e_1,\dots,e_7\). The javana operator is constructed from the E₈ generators under the Tits construction, and the kamma-imprint is identified as a topological change in the BRST cohomology class of the shadow-sector configuration. - **Correspondence A.III — 17-Moment Vīthi Sequence:** The full 17-moment cognitive process is proposed as a structural analogue to a BRST resolution chain over the E₈ state space. This mapping is suggestive but less tightly constrained than the javana correspondence itself. - **Correspondence A.IV — 28 Rūpas as Jordan Modes:** The 28 material rūpas are proposed as corresponding to the 27-dimensional exceptional Jordan algebra \(J_3(\mathbb{O})\) plus the identity. The dimensional match (4 great essentials ↔ 3 Peirce idempotents + identity; 24 derived rūpas ↔ 24 off-diagonal real dimensions) is structurally suggestive, though the specific assignments remain under-determined by the algebra alone. Free parameter count: **ZERO**. All identifications inherit from the single E₈ boundary scale (51.9 GeV previously fixed by the neutron lifetime anomaly) and the genus-10 grid geometry established in earlier papers. --- ## Part I — Introduction: A Finite Map of the Entire Mind–Matter Universe ### 1.1 The Role of the Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha in Theravāda The Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha is not a primary canonical text; it is a late compendium that systematically organises the content of the seven Abhidhamma books into a finite, explicit taxonomy. Its nine chapters (pariccheda) cover: 1. **Citta-pariccheda:** 89 (or 121) types of consciousness.2. **Cetasika-pariccheda:** 52 mental factors and their patterns of association.3. **Pakiṇṇaka-pariccheda:** Miscellaneous groupings — feelings, roots, functions, doors, objects, bases.4. **Vīthicitta-pariccheda:** The 17-moment cognitive process.5. **Vīthimutta-pariccheda:** Process-free consciousness — bhavaṅga, rebirth-linking, and death.6. **Rūpa-pariccheda:** The 28 types of material phenomena.7. **Samuccaya-pariccheda:** Compendium of mental and material phenomena.8. **Paṭicca-samuppāda-pariccheda:** Dependent origination in systematic form.9. **Kammaṭṭhāna-pariccheda:** Meditation subjects — 40 samatha objects, vipassanā basis. From the standpoint of contemporary cognitive science, the Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha is an extraordinarily detailed finite-state model of mind–matter dynamics. It posits a discrete, quantised space of consciousness-moments, mental factors, and material events, together with a fixed transition scheme (vīthicitta) and a background stream (bhavaṅga). ### 1.2 The Role of This Paper in the Series Within the E₈/CFT framework, prior papers have treated many Abhidhamma topics individually: the 52 cetasikas, the 37 bodhipakkhiyā-dhammas, the 12 nidānas, Nibbāna as the pre-projection substrate, and the 29-channel Hamiltonian. Crucially, S2-P2 established the 89 cittas as the visible complement of the E₈ shadow sector. What has been missing is a single paper that shows how these pieces cohere as a *complete* map of the E₈ phase space. Building on S2-P2, which established the 89 cittas as the visible complement of the E₈ shadow sector, the present paper extends the correspondence from discrete citta taxonomy to the full Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha system. It fills this gap by showing that the Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha, taken seriously as a phenomenological model, is a finite coordinate chart on the E₈/CFT state space. The compendium's four core building blocks — citta, cetasika, rūpa, nibbāna — correspond to: - **Citta:** Specific excitations in the visible sector \(H_{29}\).- **Cetasika:** Coupling coefficients and constraint tensors determining which excitations can co-occur.- **Rūpa:** The Jordan algebra \(J_3(\mathbb{O})\) and its Peirce decomposition.- **Nibbāna:** The pre-projection Albert algebra prior to any Tits construction. The **bhavaṅga** and **vīthicitta** structure then provide the dynamical rules for how the phase space is traversed.
